Orange You A Great Friend!

So a quick post today, my two little girls both have a touch of gastro, and I'm worried I've caught the bug!

This card is for Papertake weekly challenges, and this week's theme is a sketch. If you follow the link you will see the sketch.

I have to admit, this stamp is a bit quirky for me, however I actually got it at a heavily discounted price, and figured that she was such a cutie pie, even if I used her once, I would get my money's worth. Now having coloured her, I'm in love with her! So watch out family and friends, there may be an Olivia Orange card heading your way ;)

When I sat down to colour her, I was stuck for ideas on what colour her dress and hair should be, as not every girl can work orange. Lucky for me, a google image search was the answer! So if you pop over here, you can see the original card by the very talented Michelle Doyer. As you can see, we coloured the dress in similarly, but I chose to make Olivia a brunette with grey sparkly shoes.

Here is a close-up

Sketch #65

Thanks for stopping by, and I hope to be back later in the week with some more projects!

I'm famous!!

Just wanted to share a quick post with you before my card for today. As mentioned in my previous post, my card "Le Romantique" was CASEd from Colleen Boshoff who happens to be a designer over at the Zest blog. After making my card, I emailed the head designer of the blog, to show her my version of Colleen's card.

Imagine my surprise when MY CARD was the feature card on Friday's post!! I have to admit that I was starting to get a bit frustrated with myself, and feeling like I was wasting my time (and money) on a hobby that I felt I didn't have much talent for, so it was a real confidence boost that someone thought my card was worthy of a mention.

So massive thanks to Philippa and the team over at Zest blog for brightening up my day! :)

Anything Goes... Challenge #60

Well after an insane week I managed to scrape in a few cards this weekend! Nothing like celebrations to help "find the time" to craft ;)

This card is one I made for my eldest daughter's little friend. I personally find cards for strangers difficult, as I'm not sure how some people will receive a handmade card, so I kept this one fairly simply. To help me, I used the challenge over at Anything Goes which was a bingo card of crafty options. It was a really late hour that I started this card, the night before the party, so I picked a horizontal line, consisting of: 2 or more stamps (see ingredients list), Your Choice (2 or more cardstocks), Die cuts/Punches (see ingredients list).

Here is my card! (Quick segue, I FINALLY figured the key to taking good photos of my projects! The perfect place to take them is of all place, MY PRINTER which happens to sit right next to the window in my craft room. So during daylight, I can play with the blinds to get the perfect angle of light) :)

So ingredients list:

Cardstock: Stampin' Up! Blushing Bride and Whisper White
Stamps: Stampin' Up! Delicate Doilies and Create A Cupcake
Ink: Stampin' Up! Regal Rose and Melon Mambo
Punch: Stampin' Up! Scalloped Oval punch

All because two people fell in love...

For something different today, I have a scrapbook layout! Before I head back to study on Monday I am furiously crafting; trying to cram in as many projects as possible! :) Last night I managed a scrapbook page (not this one), plus two cards! Have to be happy with that effort!

Anyhoo, this page is for Anything Goes Challenge blog, the current theme is "To The One I Love", and also the Sassy Scrapper February Sketch Challenge. I have been so slack scrapbooking my wedding photos. I've had this particular photo in my study for MONTHS and I just kept moving it around to a different spot each time. So I finally bit the bullet and scrapped it.

I have no idea what most of the materials used are, as I am also trying to cull my stash before I go shopping again ;) but the flowers are prima, DI is Brushed Corduroy, papers are Bo Bunny, Kaisercraft, Graphic 45 and I think Basic Grey? Cardstock is Stampin' Up! Chocolate Chip, and I've used liquid pearls for the flourishes.

Thanks for stopping by! Enjoy the rest of your weekend :)

Mojo Monday #225

Hi!

I managed to sneak in another card before the weekend finished! Today's card is for the current Mojo Monday sketch challenge. It's a card I made for my eldest daughter's little friend who recently had a birthday. This card is a bit spesh for me, as I used my FIRST EVER Magnolia stamp! I have to admit, it took me a while to warm up to Magnolia stamps, and the last few months I decided I HAD to have one! So after much scouring online, I found the very gorgeous Midsummer Tilda stamp who is just me down to a T; a hippy chicky ;)

Unfortunately, my photography skills leave a bit to be desired, as the photo depicts her looking a bit "flatter" than in real life, but overall, I was happy with the results!

Here is a close-up of Tilda

The cardstock is Stampin' Up! Blushing Bride, Marina Mist.
DSP is Crate Paper Emma Shoppe collection
Stamp is Magnolia Midsummer Tilda, coloured with Copics (let me know if you want to know what colours I used)
The sentiment sticker is a random one, but I think it might have been Jasart? I'm trying to clear out my stash at the moment! :)

Fancy a cuppa?

Howdy!

Thanks to Australia Day on Thursday, I managed to score myself a five day weekend from work! Gotta love that ;) So when my husband and eldest daughter headed off to the movies, I took advantage of my baby's nap-time (which ended up being three and a half hours - SCORE!), grabbed a handful of craft goodies and jumped to it!

Today's card is actually for my Stampers group meeting tomorrow in Canberra - ACTSA. A great group of ladies who get together once a month and craft, chat, eat, drink and be merry! Each year we have a theme for creating cards and Artist Trading Cards, and this year's theme is "My Favourite Things". January's theme is "My Favourite Drink". I have to say, of all beverages besides water, my favourite would have to be a good old-fashioned homemade iced coffee! Which came in handy because I just happened to have the Hot Off The Press "Fancy A Cuppa" stamp set that I've never used.

Here is my card:

The inspiration for this card came from several challenges, Just Add Ink, Challenge 102 - CASE-ing Kathy Tanner I used a sketch that Kathy has used on three cards. It definitely took me out of my comfort zone, as I usually dislike panelling. This is the first time I've looked at Kathy's blog, and it is wonderful! As a Stampin' Up! demonstrator, it's always nice to find a blog where the main supplies (if not all) are Stampin' Up! as it gives me inspiration (and an ever-increasing wishlist).

The second challenge that I used was Cute Card Thursday - Challenge 201, You're A Gem It wouldn't be one of my cards if it didn't have some form of bling, and in this case, surprise, it's liquid pearls ;)

The final challenge is Craft Your Days Away Challenge 37 - Distressing Another favourite challenge blog of mine! And an excuse to use my favourite technique, distressing!!

So right about now an ingredients list would help! ;)

Cardstock: Stampin' Up! chocolate chip & river rock
DSP: Kaisercraft vintage timeless
Stamp Set: HOTP Fancy A Cuppa
Punch: scalloped edge oval punch (I trimmed the second die-cut so it looked like a plain oval)
Ink: Stampin' Up! early espresso & Tim Holtz DI brushed corduroy
Ribbon: Stampin' Up! chocolate chip scalloped edge grosgrain ribbon (I used the other side, without the spots)

Here is the direct links again for the three challenges:

Cute Card Thursday - 201 - You're A Gem

Just Add Ink - 102 - CASE Kathy Tanner

Craft Your Days Away - 37 - Distressing

Finally (Sorry for the really long post!) here is a sneaky peak of my ATC offering! Hope you like! (The splodge on the bottom is only a reflection of the flash off the DM, it's not actually on the ATC)

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Top Tip Tuesday Challenge #68

Hello again! Two posts in one day! :)

This card I made using one of the two sketches on offer over at Top Tip Tuesday!

This sketch was so much fun to play with! As I had not long ago purchased Cottage Garden stamp set from Stampin' Up! and I was keen to find a project I can use it on. So when I was "challenge-surfing" I thought this sketch lent itself perfectly to the stamp set.

I've used Blushing Bride cardstock, Cottage Garden stamp set (including sentiment), a daisy edge punch, and some bling in the corner. The inks used are all Stampin' Up! Old Olive, Melon Mambo, Tempting Turquoise, Pacific Point, and Basic Black.

Here is a close-up of the sentiment, how cute is it?! I love sentiments that go beyond the usual basics.

My TIP for this week is when stamping a stamp that has an outline and silhouette (as shown with the flower in my card), stamp the silhouette so that it is "off" the outline and not matched up perfectly. It adds some character, and you don't have to be stressed about getting it to align perfectly.

Week #190 Sketch Saturday

Howdy!

Today's card is using a sketch from Sketch Saturday's current challenge. I needed a few challenges to get those creative juices flowing again! Lol

The stamp set is Stampin' Up! Faith In Nature (hostess only), the cardstock is Old Olive and Very Vanilla, the ink is Basic Black, and the DSP is Paisley Petals (all Stampin' Up!), punched using a Martha Stewart scalloped edge-dotty-punch. I used a corner rounder to give the card a bit of 'oomph', and some liquid pearls in the top corner.

Thanks for stopping by, enjoy the rest of your weekend!

A not-so-short hiatus!

Woopsie!

I've been so busy with work, study & family that I have been neglecting my little blog! If it wasn't for a link from my lovely Stampin' Up! upline, Deb, I probably would still be neglecting it! :)

Here is a card I made a while ago!

This card was made using Stampin' Up! Melon Mambo and Regal Rose cardstock, I forget the name of the embossing folder, some lace and a Sweet Pea stamp that I coloured using Copics. It was my first attempt at colouring a portrair-style stamp so I was really happy with how it turned out! (Truth be told, I was even reluctant to give it away, but it went to a very special girl; my eldest niece) :)

Thanks for stopping by and I'll do my best to post a few more cards! I have a constantly-increasing pile of Stampin' Up goodies just begging to be used!!
