Creative Card Crew #34: Handmade flowers

Welcome to another fab challenge over at Creative Card Crew! Our challenge this fortnight is handmade flowers. I.LOVE.HANDMADE.FLOWERS!!! There are so many great tutorials out on the world wide web on how to make your own. Our sponsor this fortnight is the super-cute Birdie Brown Images who are offering a lucky winner 3 free digis!

For this challenge, I chose to use a technique taught to me by a lovely crafty friend of mine, Tania, who unfortunately, doesn't have a blog :( This technique is a great way to use up scrap pieces of paper, as well as fill in time if you feel like crafting, but just want to do something simple and easy.

The technique consists of roughly cutting a number of circles. You can also use punched/die-cut circles or flowers for this technique. They don't have to be perfect, in fact, it's better when they're not, you just have to make sure that they gradually increase in size. You can use as many or as few as you like, but just be mindful of the fact that the brad has to go through all the layers.

You just spritz the cuts/punches/die cuts with some water, scrunch them in your hand, and let them dry.

Once dry, layer them in size order, I use a piercer.

Pin together with a brad.

Then have a scrunch and a play until you are happy with how they look, and they are ready to adhere to your project. I used Tombow glue to adhere mine, as you need a really strong adhesive to ensure they stay stuck.

Here is my project; an exploding box:

I have used the super cute "Look Up" image, as she reminded me of my 2 year old daughter, especially when she lets me put her hair up :)

Other materials used are an old Lime Tart kit for papers and embellishments, some bling, a doohickey, and layers of washi tape around the lid.

Thanks for stopping by, and I hope you have a chance to play along with us this fortnight. We can't wait to see what you create!

Have a great week :)
