Creative Card Crew: #33 Clouds/Snow/Rain

So onto my project for this challenge

 

I used Space Monster, fussy-cut (minus his hands) to look like raindrops. I have covered approximately half of the raindrops in kindy glitz to make them stand out, and mounted on foam tape. The cloud paper is part of a freebie paper pad from a magazine, and the cardstock is Stampin' Up! Pool Party and Island Indigo. Punches are scalloped oval, and scalloped-edge punch. I've finished the card off with some bling and a Stampin' Up! sentiment stamp.

Todays card is a simple one, although it took a few days to make, ironic huh?

I have made a 6"x6" card, using Stampin' Up! Soft Suede cardstock, My Minds Eye 'Breeze' papers (outside and inside the card), Midsummer Tilda, X-Press Blend It card, Memento Ink, Copics, laser-cut chipboard stars (coloured with Copics and finished off with some Dimensional Magic), some Stampin' Up! label punches, Stampin' Up! Teeny Tiny Sentiments, Stampin' Up! Basic Pearls.

Creative Card Crew: Challenge 31

Welcome to my first project as part of the Creative Card Crew design team! This fortnight's challenge is 'Ribbon', and our sponsor for the challenge is Delicious Doodles

I was spoiled for choice with the lovely images, so I have made 2 cards. The first is an easel card using the lovely Fae

This image is perfect for tweens/teens/young adults, who can be tough to make cards for at the best of times, when cutesy images just don't cut it anymore. What I also liked about Fae, is that it is a great image for beginner colourers and advanced colourers alike, as it is a great image to practice hair and faces.

I've used two lots of ribbon on my card; some ruffled pink ribbon to frame the image, and I have wrapped some silver lacey ribbon around the top panel of my card a few times, to create enough thickness to layer the gorgeous little dress pin on the card.

The flower on the front is a Prima flower, the papers are Lillibean, cardstock is Bazzill and Stampin' Up! Punches are Martha Stewart and Stampin' Up! Sentiment is Stampin' Up! Dies used are Nestabilities Grand Labels 1.



My second card is the very ethereal Lycaonia, and I went for a more masculine card. I think the addition of the wolves to this image do make the card suitable for men.

 

 

Now where is the ribbon? I used ribbon on this card in the corner to create stripes to co-ordinate with the fab My Minds' Eye paper I used. Unfortunately, I didn't have any masculine ribbon that would match, so I've used white ribbon and coloured it in with Stampin' Up! Basic Grey marker, as that is the grey cardstock I've used.

 

I wanted a greyscale card to really make Lycaonia pop. Here is a close-up:

Where Angels Tread...

Today's card is show-casing my first ever Saturated Canary purchase, as well as my first time entering one of their challenges. This week it's "Good vs. Evil", and I have teamed it up with the fab sketch over at Papertake Weekly. For me, it was a no-brainer to make a "good" card, because quite frankly, anyone who deserves an "evil" card, is not getting a card from me ;) Lol

I have used the absolutely gorgeous digi Angels Among Us, and teamed it with the very heavenly Sweet Nothings collection from Kaisercraft, which showcases cherubs, and all things, well, heavenly! I have fussy-cut the image, and adhered her to the page to look like she is sitting on a cloud, with the angel feathers floating down around her.

Inside the card:

Other stamps used are Tim Holtz ticket stamps, and Whimsy ticket stamps. The tickets were cut using the Tim Holtz ticket die, and inked up with Stampin' Up! Early Espresso. I've used Kindy Glitz on the angel feathers, and Stampin' Up! basic pearls in the corners, and the card is made on Stampin' Up! Early Espresso and Marina Mist. The beautiful digi is coloured using Copics (of course!)

And So They Were Married...

Today's card is a Criss-Cross card for my darling hubby, as tomorrow marks our second wedding anniversary. I am really excited about it, as I have a huge surprise planned for him along the lines of the traditional Cotton theme, but I can't spill the beans just yet, as it won't be arriving for a few weeks.

I love making vintage-style cards, but wanted to challenge myself and make a masculine vintage card. My husband is really interested in antiques/vintage; I find myself being co-erced into watching every "picker" show that is on tv, and boy are there a few on through the week! It's a happy coincidence that I managed to get cotton on the card with the seam binding and burlap.

Please excuse the poor lighting, I finished the card late and unfortunately had to rely on artificial light rather than natural.

I'm still getting used to using glimmer mists, they're fun and messy! It didn't turn out quite how I imagined on the outside of the card, however I'm really happy with how it turned out on the insert.

Today's card is my first entry into a couple of Magnolia challenges, and paired with a great sketch from the talented DT over at Sketch Saturday, my mojo flowed!

 

I have inked up Tilda Loves Flowers using Copics and Memento Tuxedo Black ink on X-Press Blend It card. Cardstock is Stampin' Up! and Bazzill, with October Afternoon DSP. I have used the sentiment from the Stampin' Up! Create A Cupcake stamp set, and punched using Modern Label Punch. I have finished off with the Magnolia Doo-Hickey Lovely Fence.

This card is for a friend's engagement party which I'm hoping to attend (if I can waddle my pregnant self along :) ) It is a bit more pink than I had planned, but I'm really happy with how it turned out! Butterflies are my favourite animal (next to dragonflies), as they symbolise new beginnings, so it made a perfect choice for this theme.

I used a Twiddlybitz card base for my card, with some Bazzill cardstock, and Kaiseraft Sweet Nothings DSP for both outside and inside my card. I have just matted the butterfly onto the card, but the sentiment has been mounted using foam tape, to add some dimension.

 

The stamp sets are Stampin' Up! (retired) Strength, Hope, Love set, and You are Loved, both inked up with Regal Rose. The sentiment is punched out with the Modern Label Punch. The sentiment inside the card isn't labelled, so I have no idea what brand it is, but I suspect possibly Hero Arts, or Stamp-It Australia.

 

I have finished off with some lovely pink organza ribbon and a Christina Re silver buckle, which is from the leftovers I used to make my wedding invitations a few years ago. I love these buckles, but save them for special cards :)

 

MY TOP TIP: I have found in the past, that my cards topple over quite easily as they are top-heavy. So to combat this, I have started to matt some cardstock and DSP inside the card to evenly distribute the weight. I have also found that it gives a smoother writing surface when writing your greeting in the card, and also uses up DSP that may be too plain or light to use on the front of a card. If you have any DSP that is single-sided that you aren't keen on, you can always turn it over to the white side, and use that, or distress ink around the edges to co-ordinate it with your colour scheme.

So it has been a long time since my last post. With study, work, family and health commitments unfortunately my crafting has had to take a back seat. I have to say though, it's so nice to get back into the swing of things creatively!

Please excuse the bad lighting, the weather has not been very forgiving today, so taking photos was a bit tricky.

Inside the card:

I have whipped out my Grand Calibur and Grand Labels 1 dies to make a shaped card out of Bazzill Cardstock. The card measures approximately 6"x6". The papers are Crate Paper.

The image is Swiss Pixies Nora with Butterfly, stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink, on X-Press Blend-It card, coloured with Copics, then fussy-cut. The ribbon is some lovely lemon-coloured grosgrain ribbon.

The sentiment is punched with my new Stampin' Up! Pennant Builder punch on the same cardstock and papers, and some cute little alphas, and the love heart has been punched with my Stampin' Up! heart punch.
