Crafty Boots Challenges - MID-CHALLENGE REMINDER See the wood for the trees

Whew! Back with another card for our fab "See the wood for the trees" challenge at Crafty Boots Challenges

I have amassed a collection of backgrounds, using sprays, inks, Nuance powders, etc., so I'm trying to use them up. This background was made using Dylusions Spray Inks on watercolour card. The cute tree die is from Memory Box, and I've used the retired Cozy Christmas stamp set from Stampin' Up!, Stampin' Up! polka dots embossing folder, modern label and word window punch, Teeny, Tiny Sentiments, and white cardstock.

Thanks so much for stopping by! We have a great challenge (as always!) coming up next fortnight!

Crafty Boots Challenges - See the wood for the trees

The challenge this fortnight at Crafty Boots Challenges is a great one! Well, they all are, but I love this one because it's unique. A challenge that's outside the box deserves a card that is also outside the box. I've deviated from my current favourite style (*cough cough* mixed media) to go with some thing simple, clean, and suitable for any gender or occasion.

Stamps used: Stampin' Up! Lovely as a tree, Gift of love
Paper: kraft cardstock, SU soft suede, SU Very Vanilla, Bo Bunny
Ink: Tim Holtz Antique Linen, SU Soft Suede

Thanks so much for stopping by! I'll be back next week with more inspiration.

Crafty Boots Challenges Things with wings

We are back with one of my favourite challenges at Crafty Boots Challenges; Things with wings. I'm a sucker for butterflies, I absolutely LOVE them! So much so, that I made two cards for week 1, and have a few more in the works for our mid-challenge reminder

Card 1

Card 1 is a sample for a technique demonstration I will be doing for my local craft group next year; negative masking. I have used gloss card and my kaleidoscope ink pad, along with a love heart to get a rainbow heart image, and sponged across it with Distress Ink Black Soot and a love heart stencil, finished off with Stampin' Up! Bold Butterflies dies, rhinestones, and alphas. The card base is Stampin' Up! Elegant Eggplant cardstock.

Card 2

Oh my lord, I had SOOOOOO much fun with this one! The background was done over a few days, as I started with gloss cardstock and Adirondack alcohol inks, then used the Adirondack blending solution and Tim Holtz stencils to add some more features. The dies are the same as for card 1, and I used the retired Stampin' Up! Feel Goods stamp set for the sentiment, matted on black cardstock, and Stampin' Up! Wisteria Wonder cardstock for the card base.

Thanks so much for stopping by, be sure to stop by next week with my mid-challenge reminder!

Crafty Boots Challenges - Pink MID-CHALLENGE REMINDER

We're halfway through our fab Pink challenge at Crafty Boots Challenges for this fortnight. For this week, I have made a card for a friend  who sadly (and very unexpectedly) passed away two weeks ago in a car accident. Her craft friends have been asked to make cards to place around her coffin, in lieu of flowers. I saw this stamp at a craft show, and it had my friends name written all over it, so it seemed only fitting that I make her a card with it.

The image is Yvette from Stamp It Australia, coloured with Copics, the papers are Kaisercraft Mademoiselle, edges are inked with Kaisercraft Pinecone, and finished off with Stampin' Up! Basic Rhinestones, the card base is Kraft cardstock.

Thanks so much for stopping by, it's been wonderful looking at all the Pink entries in honour of Breast Cancer Awareness month.

Crafty Boots Challenges - Pink

As usual, we have a fab new challenge over at Crafty Boots Challenges for you this fortnight. In honour of October being Breast Cancer Awareness month, we have a 'pink' challenge on the go.

I have kept my card very simple for the challenge, but plucked up the courage to cut into a gorgeous sheet of Kaszazz paper that I have been hoarding for over 4 years now *sniff*.

The vertical strip has been stamped with an old Stampin' Up! stamp set; Strength and Hope, which was a set sold a few years ago in honour of Breast Cancer awareness. The sentiment is from a current Stampin' Up! hostess set, and all edges have been inked in Stampin' Up! Blushing Bride ink, and the card has been backed onto a piece of Blushing Bride cardstock. As mentioned, the DSP is Kaszazz, the butterfly is die-cut using Stampin' Up! Bold Butterflies die, and finished off with a few rhinestones.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Crafty Boots Challenges - Halloween MID-CHALLENGE REMINDER

We don't really "do" Halloween in Australia, which is a shame! My girls love all things Halloween and ghoulish, so I have amassed a small collection of Halloween-themed products, and here is my card for the challenge at Crafty Boots Challenges this fortnight.

I have so much going on here! The background has been created using a mix of Dylusions sprays, Distress Inks and Tim Holtz stencils. The skull is from Stampers Anonymous Halloween Blueprints, sponged with Distress Ink and had glossy accents applied over the top. The two tickets are from retired Stampin' Up! set, That's The Ticket, and inked over with Distress Ink. The "Boo" sentiment has been diecut from Kaisercraft alphabet dies, and had Kindy Glitz applied over the top. The skull has been mounted with foam tape, and everything else applied with Glossy Accents (so much tidier than Tombow glue!). The base of the card is Stampin' Up! Elegant Eggplant.

My 9 year old has already snagged this card as next year's birthday card (her birthday was only a few weeks ago!), or if not "Christmas will do too, mum".

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Crafty Boots Challenges - Autumn is in the air MID CHALLENGE REMINDER

This was a hard challenge for me at Crafty Boots Challenges, our Autumn is earlier in the year, when the northern hemisphere is celebrating Spring. So we have just entered Spring here, and my mind is on sunshine (which we have yet to experience), warm weather (ditto), and flowers (getting there slowly). Anyhoo, thank heavens for Pinterest, hey? Once I hit Pinterest, the creative ideas started flowing.

I took two of my favourite Autumn-themed stamp sets (both Stampin' Up! Lovely As A Tree, and French Foliage), but I wanted to go that little bit further, so I played around with the Shaving Foam Technique, some Tim Holtz Distress reinkers, and an Adirondack Alcohol ink, and came up with this background. It was so much fun, I ended up making a Shaving Foam master sheet and played around with a few different finishes. I have deliberately left the sentiment off, so I can add it inside the card.

Thanks for stopping by!

Crafty Boots Challenges - MID CHALLENGE REMINDER All Squared Up

We're halfway through this nifty challenge at Crafty Boots Challenges; All Squared Up! As usual, our challenges are very open to interpretation, so it's time to get your square on! Here is my card for the challenge

I haven't made a card in ages, so it was nice to sit and play! The DSP is a new(ish) one from Kaisercraft, the text paper is actually a stamp (Stampin' Up! Dictionary) - I couldn't bring myself to tear a page out of an actual book! I have stamped on the text with one of the images from Hot Off The Press Vintage Ladies, and used my Derwent Inktense pencils to colour the flowers in her hair. The sentiment is a retired Stampin' Up! sentiment, and I've used the Stampin' Up! Scalloped Oval and Large Oval punches.

Thanks so much for stopping by! I can't wait to check out all the entries
